Connecting PowerBI to a Text or CSV File

CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files are simple text files used to store data tables. Unlike excel, .csv or .txt is the file extension. For the data source, we will click CSV/Text on the Get data dropdown.

It takes you to the file explorer where you’ll select the file you want to work with, then click open.

 The table preview will come up, then you’ll proceed to load your data.

After you’ve gone through the effort of loading your data. don't forget to save your Power BI file. This saves all your data connections and any report work you've started.
